How to identify your eMac G4*

The easiest way to tell which model of eMac you have is by visiting Apple's site at:

http://www.apple.com/support/emac/identify/

After you determine which model eMac you have, use your browser's Back Button to return to GALAXYhp, and then select from the OPTIONS drop down menu (top right) to find the part you need.
 
How to identify your iMac G4*

The easiest way to tell which model of iMac G4 you have is by visiting Apple's site at:

How to identify your iMac G3*
Determining which iMac G3 you have is more complex. It involves two steps. The first requires you to turn your iMac over so that you can see the ID label on the bottom of the computer. Printed there is the configuration of your iMac when it left the factory: you need to make a note of this. Then follow the link that matches the color of your iMac and read the notes associated with it. Once you know the model of your iMac, select from the OPTIONS drop down menu (top right) to find the part you need.

STEP 1
Locate the ID label on bottom of your iMac and write down the factory configuration of your computer.

STEP 2
Using the illustrations below as a guide, select the color of your iMac from the pull down menu.

Bondi Blue

Family No : M4984
Processor Speed: 233MHz processor

You have a Tray-Loading CD iMac

NOTE: Be aware that there are two versions of this model iMac. Major components are often not interchangeable between versions. When applicable you will find instructions for determining which version you have in each iMac Parts Section.

Blueberry, Grape, Lime, Strawberry, and Tangerine

There are two possible configurations for each of these ('Five Flavor') iMacs:

Family No : M4984
Processor Speed: 266MHz or 333MHz processor
Optical Drive Type: Tray-loading

You have a Tray-Loading CD iMac

NOTE: Be aware that there are two versions of this model iMac. Major components are often not interchangeable between versions. When applicable you will find instructions for determining which version you have in each iMac Parts Section.

OR:

Family No : M5521
Processor Speed: 350MHz or 400MHz
Optical Drive Type: Slot-loading

You have a Slot-Loading CD/DVD iMac

Indigo

Processor Speed: 350MHz or 400MHz or 450MHz or 500MHz

If your processor speed is 350MHz you have a Summer 2000 iMac.

If your processor speed is 400MHz, you will have to remove the bottom case and EMI shield to examine the main logic board. If the processor (located adjacent to the backup battery) does not have a heatsink and a copyright date of 2000 is engraved on the board, you have a Summer 2000 iMac. If there is a heatsink over the processor and a copyright date of 2001 is engraved on the board, you have an Early 2001 iMac.

If your processor speed is 450MHz, you have a Summer 2000 iMac.

If your processor speed is 500MHz and your factory installed memory is 64MB, you have an Early 2001 iMac.

If your processor speed is 500MHz and your factory installed memory is 128MB, you have a Summer 2001 iMac.

Ruby, Sage

Processor Speed: 350MHz or 400MHz or 450MHz or 500MHz

You have a Summer 2000 iMac.

Blue Dalmation, Flower Power

Processor Speed: 400MHz or 500MHz or 600MHz

You have an Early 2001 iMac.

Graphite

Processor Speed: 400MHz or 500MHz or 600MHz or 700MHz

If your processor speed is 400MHz you have a Slot Load CD/DVD iMac.

If your processor speed is 500MHz, you have a Summer 2000 iMac.

If your processor speed is 600MHz and your factory installed memory is 128MB, you have an Early 2001 iMac.

If your processor speed is 600MHz and your factory installed memory is 256MB, you have a Summer 2001 iMac.

If your processor speed is 700MHz you have a Summer 2001 iMac.

Snow

Processor Speed: 500MHz or 600MHz or 700MHz

If your processor speed is 500MHz, and your factory installed memory is 128MB, you have a Summer 2000 iMac.

Otherwise you have a Summer 2001 iMac.
