| PMac G5 - Power Supplies |
There were only four different power supplies used in the PowerMacintosh G5 family. They all look the same, so you need to know your computer's model number and processor speed to be certain of ordering the correct replacement part. If you have a 450W or 710W power supply there is an optional upgrade path available, or you can replace your part with one of the same capacity. There is no available upgrade if you have a 600W or 1000W power supply: you must replace it with one of like capacity.
All GALAXY part numbers have a suffix ( 'F', 'A', 'R' etc) which is code for the Terms of Sale for the item in question. So whenever you see a part ending with an 'F' you'll know that you'll need an RMA number before shipping your defective part to GALAXY for repair. All parts ending with an 'A' will require you to send back your defective part after you receive its replacement. And so on - per the table to the right.
Each row listed below presents all available options for each power supply model in turn, beginning with 450W parts, followed by 600W parts in the second row etc. This provides an 'at-a-glance' comparison of available options for each model . You will quickly be able to determine the option which best suits your particular situation. |
